Value for money Thai food in a casual setting, behind Mr Chan's bar. You can always tell a good restaurant if there are lots of expats from the motherland dining in. On each visit, I have seen numerous Thai people dining here so it must be pretty good. They also do a lot of large takeaway orders which almost look like catering orders so they must have a pretty good reputation in the city area.

The noodle soups are delicious and the spicy basil pork mince on rice I had recently was also very flavorful.

This is not a place to have a date unless you're picking up take out and bringing it back home. The dining hall is similar to a canteen so definitely not a date spot.

Mrs Chans may be owned by the same company as Crocodile Senior but the food here is better.  It has it's own standalone mini kitchen, but due to the size dishes come out one or two at a time (so large groups are not recommended).

We ordered the Crispy Pork Dry Noodle and Crispy Pork Prik King. The crispy pork here is done amazingly. The meat is slightly dry but the way the fat is cooked and the skin is fried helps each bite come together symphonically.

The Crispy Pork Dry Noodle was a little bland, but the richness of the pork made up for it. The Crispy Pork Prik King was aromatic and complex.

Overall, for the price, this is a great meal.

Mrs Chans Kitchen is a Thai restaurant which can be found in the Sussex arcade either entering through the right hand side of the Charlie Chan Bottleshop on George St or via the Sussex St entrance.

I had the vegetable and tofu pad thai for $9 which came on a sizeable plate with a generous amount of crushed peanuts. The flavour was just right for me not too salty, not too sweet but some might prefer adding some extra condiments e.g. sweet chilli. The noodles were not too soft but plentiful. The vegetables were a little undercooked which I don't personally mind for e.g. the brocolli was crunchy but some people might prefer it cooked a bit longer.

The dining setting is a very casual bar stool arrangement with some tables for groups. I came around lunch time and there wasn't much space at the tables but there were a few empty stools.

Food is delicious. Enjoyable and cheap and affordable. The setting is very casual and is good for families and friends a like.
Food is on the sweeter side and I would recommend the noodle soups because they are light and very delicious.
